ABOUT

Briefs Factory is an Australian creative collective who manufacture, cultivate and present evocative, irreverent, physical performance.
Best known for their flagship project Briefs, the award-winning company’s work also includes Club Briefs, The Second Coming and Brat Kids Carnival. The collective also represents works developed by like minded artists.
Inspired by circus, drag, dance, burlesque, music, comedy and the ever changing world around them, Briefs Factory are dedicated to developing and touring their brand of award winning, genre defying, political party punk around the world.
MANIFESTO

VISIBILITY
Without prejudice our invitation extends beyond any individual specifics with an obvious and obligatory mention of appropriateness ei age appropriateness and zero tolerance to any flirting against the rules of basic humane decency. There is a seat for everyone.
Casting across collective company contributors champions a considered balance of representation, which is reflected in the work.
So, unintentionally this company represents a spectrum of individual often described as marginalised. Giving more depth, voice and narrative to the characters in a 90’s Benetton ad campaign.
VIRTUOSITY
Declaration of artistic, technical, administrative and human excellence. Insisting on a shared value and high importance across all collective contributions within the company. An agreed commitment to a safe, exclusively inclusive and collaborative practice.
SOVEREIGNTY
A self-governed state of mind, a principle that reads the room and an exchange that is pragmatically sharp, politically barbed, cultural sophisticated and mindfully realistic.
Ideology and acknowledgement of our complex histories, identities and stories.
